Woman-Owned Business

BRS Consulting, a boutique, owner-operated sustainability consulting firm in the green building industry, is honored to announce it has received the prestigious Women’s Business Enterprise Certification from the National Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as well as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The WBENC certification for women-owned business is the most recognizable and sought-after certification of its kind. WBENC’s national standard of certification requires a meticulous process, including an in-depth review of the business and a site inspection, confirming the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by women.

The Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) designation provides bidding opportunities for BRS Consulting for all state and federal jobs and in many instances, within private industry. In addition, the SBA-backed status will provide BRS an edge over a company that is not. The SBA plans to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to women-owned small businesses yearly to support this goal.

“We are pleased to receive both of these certifications,” said Brittany Storm, President, BRS Consulting. “Both our private-sector and public-sector clients have told us our WBENC and WOSB certifications are significant because BRS can now help them achieve their supplier diversity goals and, in turn, formally demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and equity.”

This certification benefits our clients by helping them achieve their diversity initiatives, demonstrating their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs. It also provides our clients with a proven professional services partner holding a certification that is national accepted by hundreds of major corporations and government entities.

“We are honored to be officially certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise.” Storm continued, “We work with project teams across North America and look forward to the positive effects tis recognition will bring to our clients and BRS Consulting.”

About the U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration makes the American dream of business ownership a reality. As the only go-to resource and voice for small businesses backed by the strength of the federal government, the SBA empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners with the resources and support they need to start, grow or expand their businesses. The Federal Government is considered the largest customer for products and services in the United States. Setting aside a portion of contracting opportunities for certified WOSBs and EDWOSBs, not only addresses underrepresentation in various industries but provides better opportunities for women owners to grow their businesses.
